Germany’s Largest Public Leisure and Recreation Park
With over three million visitors every year, the Allerpark is one of the most frequently visited leisure attractions in the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region. This comes as no surprise given that the public leisure park, which covers an area of 130 hectares and is located close to the city centre, boasts a harmonious combination of unique natural features, diverse leisure experiences, culinary delicacies and different attractions like no other location in Germany. The original and main feature of the park is the artificial Allersee lake, which was created in as early as 1969 and has been a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and visitors wanting to chill out and relax ever since.
With support from the European Union and the German Land of Lower Saxony, the park has been successfully developed into a public leisure park since the 1990s. Its wide range of different highlights with a broad spectrum of sports activities, food and drink facilities and entertainment options attract visitors from near and far all year round. The main factor that helps to create the special charm of the Allerpark is the way in which its new attractions are embedded into the attractive park landscape. As a result, adults, children and even their four-legged friends can make the most of a wide variety of (free) leisure facilities and activities outdoors in the fresh air.
The park offers an excellent combination of opportunities for recreational and professional sport, fun and relaxation. The attractions surrounding the Allersee lake include the Volkswagen Arena, the AOK Stadium, the VfL Football World, the BadeLand water fun park, a water ski centre, beach volleyball courts, football fun in the HYGIA X-Perience Park and its children’s play area, a high ropes course, playgrounds, a skatepark, a disc golf course, the Planet Walk, the Eis Arena ice rink, the Columbian Pavilion, a campsite, water sports clubs and a bowling centre. All of these facilities capture the attention of visitors from Lower Saxony and all over Germany all year round. These attractions are accompanied by a wide range of different events such as the annual Summer Festival or sports events such as the “Volkstriathlon” public triathlon and water sports regattas, all of which have established themselves as permanent highlights in programmes of events in the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region.

Enjoy Barbecuing Fun All Year Round
Would you like to enjoy a tasty barbecue in a relaxing lakeside setting with your friends, family or colleagues? If so, the Allerpark is the ideal place for you.
After a positive test phase in 2016, barbecuing is now permitted in the Allerpark. Visitors to the park can set up their barbecues at any time of year in five allocated areas surrounding the Allersee lake.
Given that all visitors want the Allerpark to remain clean and tidy, we do, however, request that you take all of your waste back home with or dispose of it in the bins provided. The allocated barbecue areas all have special containers in which you can dispose of your coal and ashes.
If you want to enjoy a barbecue in the Allerpark, you do not need to sign up in advance. Simply come to the park, find the perfect location and get grilling!
